An Open Juried Exhibition of Artworks by Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and by Family Members of Veterans

Every member of the U.S. Armed Forces takes an oath that includes the phrase “support and defend.”  For veterans and their family members, the experiences that follow that oath may be hard to convey to those outside the Armed Forces community.  With SUPPORT AND DEFEND, each of the 2D and 3D artworks is accompanied by the artist’s written words, bringing additional perspective to the stories that belong to the individual artist. Together, the works in this exhibit may create a larger conversation about the veteran experience.

JurorsTHOMAS F. MORRISSEY, Community College of Rhode Island, Professor of Visual and Digital Art; KEN STEINKAMP, painter, Art League Rhode Island Elected Member. Both jurors are veterans.
